So while we all go into shock with the news of Queen Elizabeth II passing. I seemed to be watching endless tributes and documentaries on her life and found it all so fascinating. What a Woman! I can talk endlessly about her but I think most would still know more than me.
While I’m that mode, I get an email from the organizers of International Quilt Festival congratulating me on being a prize winner…WHAT? Already? I thought…Wow. I wasn’t allowed to mention it until IQF Houston did, but it seems as of last year they announce them before the actual show. Anyway I wasn’t expecting to get anything nevertheless to find out now. Before I could even think about telling anyone, I’m getting messages of congratulations. Just so awesome and thank you to all who have taken the time to write me a note or message and comment on the posts. I love it, just love it.
Next, realising later in the day that I actually won a major award being ‘Master Award Innovative Artistry’ sponsored by Janome America. This is huge for most of us but seriously i never thought I’d be a contender really. You dream of this stuff. So a big thank you to Quilt Festival Founder and Director Emeritus Karey Bresenhan and Special Exhibits Manager Becky Navarro, to the Judges Teresa Duryea Wong, Kathy York and Jill Kerttula. Congratulations to all who won awards and all whom entered. It will be a fantastic exhibition. Check out all the winners here .
Now, being so happy with that, the next day another email from AQS (American Quilters Society) letting me know I’ve won a prize in their show in Des Moines this week! Really? Omg another prize, so exciting. Well it is all out there now and Creating Magic has won 1st prize (it’s also they only prize this piece has won) Wall Quilts 1st Entry in AQS Des Moines. Whoohoo and first of firsts. I never tire of getting good news and I’m so happy these pieces to win a prize.
Thank you to the organisers and Michelle Thompson who does and amazing job coordinating and putting up with us quilters and textiles peeps from around the world. It can be easy that’s for sure.
You can see more winners via AQS Facebook page here . Once again I am so grateful and excited to be chosen.
Think that’s is for the minute. Stay tuned for more coming from me soon. I’m a shocker managing my time right now but I know I’ll get there.
